STRUTTING YOUR STUFF

At the helm of Saint Laurent since 2011, Hedi Slimane goes from strength to strength, revitalising the iconic French house with an injection of rock’n’roll only he could balance with the brand’s classic elegance.

THE SAINT LAURENT STORY

When Hedi Slimane took the reins at one of fashion’s most beloved houses, the change was more significant than a simple name change from Yves Saint Laurent to Saint Laurent. And although the reviews among purists were initially mixed, it wasn’t before long that Saint Laurent bags, shoes and ready-to-wear were at the top of everybody’s wish lists. Monsieur Saint Laurent’s luxurious sense of class still firmly in tact, the new generation is youthful and a little badass but with an inherent glamour to every piece of every collection.

THIS SEASON AT SAINT LAURENT

Slimane turns up the glam dial on his rock-chic look for SS15, and the results are immediately covetable. His revival of the 1970s stamped this season’s most omnipresent trend with the Saint Laurent seal of approval, expressed here in unabashed glitziness, super-short hemlines and ornate embellishment. We can’t settle on one favourite but right now we’re leaning towards that black and white striped blazer and a statement hat with a feather lifting its stark black felted wool fabrication
